Complementary Colours

Op shop finds...knitting needles, wool remnants knitted into plain stitch patches juxtaposed with Katazome paper.

When  thinking Complementary Colours go beyond the most commonly quoted definition...'colours opposite on the colour wheel'.....for a complete definition of a complimentary colour consider that the two colours be opposite not only across the colour wheel, but opposite in tone and temperature. Then consider the proportions in which they are used. Harmonious compositions, whether in your fine art paintings, your crafting or home decorating depend on the proportions of one colour to the other.

Back

Back from the Flinders Ranges and a visit to the special place Aroona where Sir Hans Heysen painted his well known series of works in pencil and watercolour titled the Three Sisters Aroona. A special time painting with the ghost of the man himself....all around me were the colours and rugged landscape described by him in the book by Colin Theile
